Cody,
Wyoming is approximately fifty miles from the eastern gate of
Yellowstone National Park. Cody is named for the famous westerner,
hunter, scout, and entertainer, Buffalo Bill Cody. The Cody Museum is
located here, so if you enjoy western art and sculpture, it is
definitely a must see.
The Cody Museum also has one of America’s most outstanding gun
collections that are open to the public. To do the museum justice, plan
to stay in Cody at least three days.
The ride to Yellowstone National Park has some great scenery. If you go
in the east gate, there are beautiful rock formations and a reservoir
that has a great campground located all around the lake.
When you choose to go in the north gate to Yellowstone you go across the
scenic Chief Joseph Highway. This twisty and undulating highway is an
absolute delight to drive .The views from the lookouts are breathtaking.
Keep your eyes on the road while driving because this is open range and
cattle tend to wander into the road when you least expect it. At the
base of this road you may want to take a little time and ride up
Beartooth Highway. This road is one of the most beautiful rides in the
world. You will definitely remember this ride as one of the best you
have ever been on.
Give Cody a visit, you will enjoy your stay and want to return again and
again. |
