Greenville is located
in the high country of South Carolina far away from the beaches and
swamps of the low country. This area is apple and peach orchard
country, if you happen to travel through at the right time of the
year do yourself a favor and pick up some fresh fruit for a
wonderful snack and it is a good idea to get enough to make some
homemade ice cream while you are here, nothing is finer than
homemade peach ice cream. The city situated among pretty rolling
hills with numerous rivers, lakes and picturesque streams.
Greenville is just a stones throw from beautiful mountain scenery
which a first time visitor does not expect to see in South Carolina.
A beautiful driving tour of the area is on highway 11 a one hundred
thirty mile road which is a wonderful alternative to traveling busy
I-85.This scenic highway runs from I-85 at the Georgia border to the
North Carolina border and offers some of the prettiest views in the
southeastern United States.
When you tire of driving take a break walk on a leisurely hike on
the Foothills Trail, which is an eighty mile hiking trail. It runs
from Table Rock State Park to the lower Whitewater Falls which is
the highest waterfall in the eastern United States. This area of
South Carolina has an abundance of outdoor activities because of the
numerous state and national forests. There are plentiful lakes in
this area including Lake Hartwell which has nine hundred sixty two
miles of shoreline, Lake Jocassee which has seventy five miles of
scenic shoreline and Lake Keowee which has approximately three
hundred miles of shoreline. Now you understand why boating and water
sports are so popular here. The fishing, camping, and hunting in the
Greenville area are plentiful thanks to these and many other lakes
and streams in the area. |

around Greenville but take time to look around town while you are here
.The downtown offers restored buildings which house great restaurants
and shopping and entertainment.
Greenville sponsors many activities throughout the year including arts
and crafts festivals, a Shakespearian festival for fans of Shakespeare’s
classic plays.
There are numerous parks in the downtown area including the Falls Park
with miles of walking and jogging trails. While you are in this area of
town visit the Greenville Zoo, the animals always appreciate visitors.
